Privacy Policy

GetInsta is built to require as little of your data as possible. We do not ask for an Instagram account, username, password, or session cookie at any point — the service only ever processes publicly accessible Instagram URLs that you paste in yourself.

What we don't collect

Instagram usernames or passwords
Instagram session cookies or authentication tokens
Account information beyond what is publicly visible on the page you link to
Payment information (GetInsta is free to use)
Any account or profile of you personally — there is no GetInsta account to create

URLs you submit

When you paste a URL and click Download, that URL is sent to our server so it can look up the corresponding Instagram page. It is used only to fulfil that request; it is not associated with an identity, sold, or used to build a profile of your activity.

What we process temporarily

Once we've located the requested media, our server passes the file to your browser. Photos and profile pictures are streamed straight through. For videos and audio, the server may write a temporary working file while your download is prepared; that file is deleted automatically after it is delivered, and any leftover file is removed by a cleanup job within minutes. We do not keep a library or copy of what you download.

Server logs

Like most web services, our server keeps basic operational logs — timestamps, response status codes, and error categories — briefly, for abuse prevention and debugging. Logs never contain full Instagram media URLs (which can carry access tokens); only the hostname and a truncated path are recorded. Logs never contain Instagram credentials, since we never receive any.

IP addresses, security, and rate limiting

Your IP address is used in memory to apply per-IP rate limits and to enforce security protections against abuse of the service — for example, capping how many requests one visitor can make per minute, and blocking outbound requests that don't point at Instagram's own servers. This data is not persisted to disk and resets when the server restarts; GetInsta does not use it for tracking, advertising, or building a profile of you. As with any website, our hosting infrastructure and the Google services described below also receive your IP address as part of an ordinary web request.

Cookies and similar technologies

GetInsta itself has no login or session, so it does not set cookies to remember who you are. The third-party services described below do. Google Analytics uses cookies or similar storage to recognise a browser across page views, and Google AdSense and its advertising partners use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the downloader works either way.

Analytics

GetInsta uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they view, so we can keep the service working and improve it. Google Analytics receives the address and title of the GetInsta page you are on, along with standard technical information such as your browser, device type, approximate location derived by Google, and a randomly generated identifier stored in a cookie. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses.

GetInsta does not send the Instagram links you paste, Instagram usernames, media addresses, or download links to Google Analytics. Those exist only inside the downloader and are never part of the page address that analytics records. We also do not send your name, email address, or any other personal details, because we do not collect them.

Third-party advertising

GetInsta is free and is supported by advertising from Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Third parties may be placing and reading cookies on your browser, or using web beacons or IP addresses to collect information, as a result of ad serving on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Depending on where you are and the choices you make, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.

GetInsta does not build advertising profiles of its own and cannot see what Google or its partners do with their data. Ads are shown separately from the downloader, and GetInsta never requires you to view or click an ad in order to download.

Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

Under Google's EU user consent policy, personalized ads and non-essential cookies for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland require consent. Google only serves personalized ads to these visitors when consent has been collected through a Google-certified consent management platform; without it, only non-personalized or limited ads can be served. For visitors in these regions, GetInsta sets Google Analytics and advertising storage to "denied" by default, so analytics cookies are not set unless you grant consent. If a consent message is shown, you can change or withdraw your choice through it at any time.

Data retention

We don't retain submitted URLs or downloaded media past the request that used them. Operational logs and in-memory rate-limit counters are kept only briefly, as described above, and are not backed up or archived long-term. Data held by Google (Analytics and AdSense) is retained under Google's own policies and settings.

Security

Outbound requests the server makes are restricted to Instagram's own domains, and every download link issued to your browser is a short-lived, signed token rather than a raw, indefinitely-reusable URL. These measures exist to protect the service itself from abuse; see the Terms of Service for what's expected of users in return.

Your choices and rights

Since GetInsta doesn't require an account, there's no profile or stored data of yours for us to review, export, or delete. Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data that third parties collect about you, such as the right to access it, to object to it, or to withdraw consent. For data held by Google, use the controls linked above and in your Google account; you can also clear cookies in your browser at any time. Children's privacy

GetInsta is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the service requires no account or profile of any kind, it does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, of any age, beyond the operational data described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date; continued use of GetInsta after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
