Privacy Policy
GetInsta is built to require as little of your data as possible. We do not ask for an Instagram account, username, password, or session cookie at any point — the service only ever processes publicly accessible Instagram URLs that you paste in yourself.
What we don't collect
- Instagram usernames or passwords
- Instagram session cookies or authentication tokens
- Account information beyond what is publicly visible on the page you link to
- Payment information (GetInsta is free to use)
- Any account or profile of you personally — there is no GetInsta account to create
URLs you submit
When you paste a URL and click Download, that URL is sent to our server so it can look up the corresponding Instagram page. It is used only to fulfil that request; it is not associated with an identity, sold, or used to build a profile of your activity.
What we process temporarily
Once we've located the requested media, our server streams the file to your browser. Media is streamed through in real time and is not written to disk or stored persistently — there is nothing sitting on our servers afterward to retain or clean up.
Server logs
Like most web services, our server keeps basic operational logs — timestamps, response status codes, and error categories — briefly, for abuse prevention and debugging. Logs never contain full Instagram media URLs (which can carry access tokens); only the hostname and a truncated path are recorded. Logs never contain Instagram credentials, since we never receive any.
IP addresses, security, and rate limiting
Your IP address is used in memory to apply per-IP rate limits and to enforce security protections against abuse of the service — for example, capping how many requests one visitor can make per minute, and blocking outbound requests that don't point at Instagram's own servers. This data is not persisted to disk and resets when the server restarts; it is not used for tracking, advertising, or building a profile of you.
Cookies
GetInsta itself does not set any cookies — there is no login, no session, and no first-party analytics that would require one. If a third-party advertising network is active on the site (see below), that network may set its own cookies subject to its own policy; GetInsta does not control those.
Analytics
GetInsta does not currently run any first-party analytics or visitor-tracking software. If that changes, this policy will be updated to name the specific tool and what it collects before it goes live — we won't add tracking silently.
Third-party advertising
GetInsta may display advertising from a third-party ad network (such as Google AdSense) to support the free service. If enabled, that network may use its own cookies or similar technology, subject to its own privacy policy, and may serve ads based on its own data practices. GetInsta itself does not build advertising profiles and has no visibility into what any ad network does with its own data.
Data retention
We don't retain submitted URLs or downloaded media past the request that used them. Operational logs and in-memory rate-limit counters are kept only briefly, as described above, and are not backed up or archived long-term.
Security
Outbound requests the server makes are restricted to Instagram's own domains, and every download link issued to your browser is a short-lived, signed token rather than a raw, indefinitely-reusable URL. These measures exist to protect the service itself from abuse; see the Terms of Service for what's expected of users in return.
Your choices
Since GetInsta doesn't require an account, there's no profile or stored data of yours to review, export, or delete beyond what your own browser already controls (clearing cookies your browser or an embedded ad may have set, for instance). Children's privacy
GetInsta is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the service requires no account or profile of any kind, it does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, of any age, beyond the operational data described above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date; continued use of GetInsta after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
